Online Bible Study Opportunities
for Lent
Pastor Isaacson is coordinating two separate Bible studies to coincide with our weekly Sunday scripture readings during Lent. The study format will be online using Google classroom. This is a free service, but you will need a Google account/email in order to participate. Pr. Isaacson has set up a preliminary study for you to test out using our current Sunday Epiphany lessons.
If you would like to participate in these Lenten bible studies, please send a Google email request to gregoryi279@gmail.com to be included. There will be questions, space for reflections and comments, videos, and other items in the studies. Everything you need for the studies can be found in the Google classroom.
If you prefer not to use the online resource, worksheets will be available each week at the church.
Living with Jesus
(Gospel Themes in Lent)
March 10:      Luke 4:1-13                                 Living with Temptation
March 17:      Luke 13:31-35                  Living with Lament
March 24:      Luke 13:1-9                                 Living with Repentance
March 31:      Luke 15:1-3, 11-32             Living with Grace
April 7:           John 12:1-8                                 Living with Blessing
The Gospel readings in Lent 2019 cause us to think on what it means to “Live with Jesus.” We are reminded of the cross’ ability to carry our burdens and to free us from the things that tend to weigh us down in life. Come and explore the meaning of Christ as we live as His disciples in today’s world. We will live with each Gospel the remainder of each week.
Practicing Faith
(Paul’s Letters in Lent)
March 6:        Romans 10:8b-13                   Confessing Christ
                      March 13:      Philippians 3:17 – 4:1                 Finding Role Models
                      March 2:        1st Corinthians 10:1-13             Being Tested
                      March 27:      2nd Corinthians 5:16-21             Becoming a New Creation
April 3:           Philippians 3:4b-14                     Press on Towards Christ
April 10:         Philippians 2:5-11            Same Mind as Christ
Lent is about putting faith into practice. We begin with Ash Wednesday, when we are given the blessing of starting over, of asking God to enter in and help us to grow. We will explore faith practices through the letters of the Apostle Paul which we will read on Sundays in Lent 2019. Each Wednesday, the sermon will be on the upcoming 2nd lesson on Sunday.

Please add March 20th & 27th to your calendars for additional meetings sessions
due to recent weather cancellations. Thank you!

Where do we place compassion in our lives? These authors place compassion at the heart of a Christian life in a world governed far too long by principles of power and destructive control. Compassion, no longer merely an eraser of human mistakes, is a force of prayer and action -- the expression of God's love for us and our love for God and one another.

Compassion is a book that says no to a compassion of guilt and failure
and yes to a compassionate love that pervades our spirit
and moves us to action.
