The Community Food Basket Committee

We continue to need your financial and spiritual support! Monetary donations may be dropped off in the church office or mailed to P.O. Box 598, Crookston MN 56716. Please designate your gift to “Trinity Food Baskets.”
Boxes will soon be available at church entrances. Please use these for donations of non-perishable food items.
Information on how you may request a food basket for someone in need, or for yourself, will be released soon! Pay attention to the Sunday announcements, Trinity’s Facebook page and local media outlets for where and when to call with names of those in need of a little holiday joy.

The generosity of our Crookston community is amazing!  Our local 6th grade students and local churches provide nearly 10% of the food for the baskets. Funds received from individuals, businesses and organizations are used to purchase the remaining 90% of the food which is purchased locally.

Mark these dates on your calendar to help with basket assembly and delivery at the Crookston National Guard Armory:
Friday, December 15 at 6:00 p.m
. to help pack the baskets and Saturday, December 16 starting at 8:30 a.m. to begin delivery.

Participation with a donation, helping to prepare baskets or helping to deliver the baskets is a most rewarding experience and a true expression of the meaning of Christmas!

Connecting Campus to Our Community
UMC Host Family Program

Building a home away from home for University of MN Crookston students is the objective of a new program launching this fall on campus. The purpose of the Community Host Program is to facilitate informal friendships and networking for first-year students at UMC with local community members. The program starts with an application process where hosts are matched with students who may share similar interests. An occasional dinner, a day at the lake, or attending and event on campus or in the community together allows the opportunity for the student and host to learn more about one another that could result in a lifelong friendship.
If you are interested in participating or learning more about the Community Host Program, contact: Aaron Meyer (acmeyer@crk.umn.edu) or Alysa Tulibaski (hauge450@crk.umn.edu) or call 218-281-8570

Trinity’s Women of the ELCA are collecting donations for Personal Care and School Kits. Note the very specific guidelines from Lutheran World Relief (www.lwr.org/getinvolved/kits) on what can be included. Your donations of new items only are needed and greatly appreciated. For Personal Care Kits:
*            Light-weight bath towels (dark colors recommended)
*Bath-size bars of soap in original wrapping
*Sturdy combs
*Metal nail clippers, attached file optional.
For School Kits:
*70-sheet notebooks, wide or college-ruled
*Rulers (30-centimeters, or with centimeters on one side, inches on the other)
*Small pencil sharpeners
